Today’s Connecting The Dots #CTD- Race, Power, and Privilege:

Two Guatemalan men in New York became victims of random hate crimes this past week. The latest victim, Félix Valenzuela, was attacked while on his way home after telling two white men in Williamsburg, Brooklyn after asking them to respect the stop sign. According to Valenzuela, the men uttered racial slurs while the beat him, saying as an immigrant he did not belong in this country. Valenzuela has no health insurance, and is the sole provider of his mother and sisters back in Guatemala. The assault left fractures in his face, and doctors say he may need surgery to correct the injury. However, Valenzuela has no feasible way to pay for the operation.
