Today’s Connecting The Dots #CTD- Race, Power, and Privilege:

Sandra Bland was found dead in her cell at the Waller County Jail, in Texas on Monday, July 13th after being arrested the previous Friday. A trooper pulled Bland over for failing to signal when changing lanes, and arrested her when she allegedly assaulted the officer. The original police report stated that officers found Sandra Bland hung from a plastic bag, but her family had doubts from the beginning. The story breaks at a time when police brutality against African-American’s is in the social and political spotlight. Bland was an activist in the Black community, and was about to start a counseling job at her alma mater, Prairie View A&M University. The FBI joined the investigation this week, and her death is officially being treated as a murder.
