Sandra Bland was found dead in her cell at the Waller County Jail, in Texas Monday July 13th after being arrested the previous Friday at a traffic stop for allegedly assaulting an officer. The report started that Sandra Bland hung herself with a plastic bag but her family and friends say Bland would never take her life. The story breaks at a time when police brutality against African-American’s is in the social and political spotlight. Bland was an activist in the Black community, and was about to start a counseling job at her alma mater, Prairie View A&M University. Her family has requested their own autopsy.
