President Barak Obama unveiled his Clean Power Plan on Monday, August 3rd. The plan goes into effect in 2022 and aims to cut carbon emissions 32% by the year 2030. But is this enough to combat climate change? Many scientists say no because although the plan cuts carbon emissions, it allows for coal and natural gas to remain the bulk of the United State’s energy sources. In order to make real change, and truly combat climate change, the US must move away from its reliance on coal and other fossil fuels as its energy source and move towards more sustainable energy generators such as solar and wind power.
