Launched at the 15th Annual Food Justice conference in Oakland in 2011, CFJC and Food First issued a year-long call to action in California communities to Take Back Our Food System. Throughout 2012, we organized events throughout California that sparked discussion, connected people to issues and each other, and culminated in a People’s Food Justice Summit (PFJS)All of CFJC’s grassroots efforts are about building the movement to Take Back Our Food System. We continue our call to action; however, our implementation has shifted. In 2012 we spearheaded monthly events, but in 2013 we are more focused on engaging communities through partnerships and supporting activities jointly developed out of the People’s Food Justice Summit in December 2012. To keep up to date on post-Summit activities follow Taking Back Our Food System on Facebook, Twitter, and the website
