Connecting the Dots: Race, Power, Privilege

In an attempt to build trust between police and communities of color, President Obama is supporting body cameras on police officer. On the other hand, Congress supports the transfer of military gear to police departments. Police armor and military weapons does not create trust among police and the public. Rather, as we have seen, it greatly diminishes trust. Although the cameras may provide fair and effective policing, it will not address institutional racism that can lead to racial profiling and related occurrences. #Ferguson #police #Obama
