Connecting the Dots #CTD- Race, Power, Privilege

Today’s Connecting the Dots ‪#‎CTD- Race, Power, Privilege: Criminalization of homeless in the US is on the rise with new laws in 21 cities making it illegal to sleep, eat, sit or provide food in public places. These laws not only make the act of charity illegal, but also make it harder to get individuals and families off the streets, exacerbating poverty. Advocates for the homeless argue that these laws are the equivalent of criminalizing poverty, as the homeless are simply doing what all human beings need to do to survive – they just lack the private space to do them. These grassroots efforts have resulted in convincing lawmakers in three states to consider passing a Homeless Bill of Rights, which should be expected this year.
