Connecting the Dots #CTD- Poverty

Today’s Connecting the Dots #CTD- Poverty: It’s 2015 and Missouri lawmakers are back at work. This year, Medicaid expansion looks more favorable as the expansion would free up $81 million in state funds almost immediately – and eventually, more than $100 million per year. The money can be used to fully fund the K-12 education formula or other services that were cut during the Great Recession. If expanded, the Medicaid program would reach an estimated 260,000 uninsured Missourians, making up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level. Of the uninsured include low-income pregnant women, mental-health patients and prisoners. The full report is available on the Missouri Budget Project Website.
