Coalition Connect

24 July 2012

Coalition Connect is a monthly campaign to engage current coalition members. Each month, we’ll have a new way for you to participate and connect! In our June newsletter, we asked CFJC members to send an image that represented “food justice”, along with a sentence describing why. The winner was Dana Frasz, and her photo is posted in our July newsletter and on our Facebook page. Check out Food Shift to learn more about their work around food waste.

Dana’s photo and response is posted below:

Food is a right, not a privilege.  What kind of society throws away 50% of its food while 50 million people are hungry?  We have enough food to feed everyone in this country.  Let us work together to set up systems that more effectively redistribute food and empower our communities to feed themselves.  (This organic food was rescued from the dumpster and is just one example of food that is discarded on a nightly basis from food establishments across the country).

August’s Coalition Connect!
This month, we’re asking members to engage with each other in answering our simple question below (if you feel like elaborating, feel free to email us at! The results will be published on our August newsletter, website, and Facebook page. If you email us your explanation, you might just see it quoted on these platforms!

CFJC promotes the basic human right to healthy food while advancing social, agricultural, environmental and economic justice. Through advocacy, organizing and education, we collaborate with community-based efforts to create a sustainable food supply. We envision a food system in which all activities, from farm to table, are equitable, healthful, regenerative and community-driven.

If you believe in these principles JOIN CFJC NOW.
